So, what's your opinion of men in skirts?

I'm actually a big fan of unbifurcated garments on men, and I support this man's endeavor 100 percent. What do you think? In a world where murse, mantyhose, guyliner, and metrosexual have all hit the vernacular, are we in the US ready for the renaissance of the man-skirt?

In other news, WHEW, sorry for the absence. I believe I'm back in commission for real, now. Depression sucks HARD! And finances have been such that I have not been able to keep this blog's original goal, to document street style in Indianapolis. For this space to continue, a format change seems necessary. From here onward, personal style will be the focus. For your Indianapolis street-style fix, I encourage you to visit my friends at the Indianapolis Fashion Collective. They're beautiful, they're doing fantastic things, and one of my hopes is that their street style section grows and grows. I'd like to contribute some photos, next time I am up in Indy.

A brief halt for safety's sake

Um, I'm not really sure how to even say this in a public sphere. My trusted friends close to home know what's up, and I feel like I owe it to you, dear readers, to at least let you know that I've halted work on the blog and on my online shop for darn good reason.

To be brief, I have reasons to fear for my safety and I need to make some abrupt changes to make sure I remain unharmed. Some of my property has not been so fortunate. You'll forgive me, please, for being so cryptic, but I don't know what the person(s) involved in this harrassment, vandalism, threatening behavior, etc. can and can't see, and I would rather be overly-cautious than risk a repeat performance. I'm not *quite* the most scared I've ever been, but things are freaky indeed on the home front. If you're a praying type of person, I'd appreciate it. If you aren't, please send good thoughts and hope life goes back to normal quickly.

I was going to get all my photography and formatting done to open the online store within the next week or two. In taking time to secure my safety, I'm forced to delay that to my originally-planned opening time. We'll be launching the shop on the first week of May, just in time to go schmooze at Cincinnati Fashion Week. Color me excited!

I am sincerely sorry, my darlings, and thank you for sticking with me in a difficult time.

Personal style shot: Dolly kei-ing it up!

In celebration of my excitement at seeing some dolly kei-inspired pieces at New York Fashion Week, I got into the dolly kei zone yesterday.

New shoes, new shoes, new shoes!

A few status updates: WOW, was I wrong about things going back to normal. A few setbacks on costumery have had us running ourselves ragged in the VU costume shop. It's all good though -- opening night is TONIGHT! So psyched! And, starting immediately after February 20, I'll have a little more time to focus on my own designs, on the blog, and on reading books and improving my fashion-sketching. Boy, do you not even WANT to know how bad THAT looks right now! It's only to be expected, though, from someone who's only been sketching for a couple of weeks at the most.

On the occupational front, JC Penney is out and Kohl's is in. JCP took back their job offer because I wasn't willing to train for work from 1 to 5 p.m. on a Tuesday, when they already knew that I have class 2 to 5 on Tuesdays. "Academics are the most important thing to us," the hiring manager at JCP said initially. No skin off me; I got an interview set up the very day they dropped the news on me. Not to mention they have lost themselves a worker who would have thrown herself into kicking butt at the job, providing killer customer service, and never fearing to get my hands a little dirty if it means learning more about the apparel retail business. Oh, and then there's the business they've lost from me, my family, and my friends who will take their dollars elsewhere now.

On more directly blog-related news, Midwest Fashion Week is coming up! I will probably only be able to make a personal appearance for one day, maybe two, but I am looking into sending Jared out for some stellar photo action.

And finally, since this semester's schedule is such that it's more difficult than I anticipated to get to Indianapolis to take pictures, you're going to see more street style posts from Jared in the spring. Summer will find me back behind the lens on a more regular basis. I'll be doing more article-type posts (a la the Gemma Teller article, which is still our most popular post since this blog's beginning), and more personal style shots! This blog's primary job is still to inspire and to document the street style of the real people of Indianapolis and surrounding areas. The method is just getting a little tweaking. Hiatus

I wouldn't do this if I didn't have to. I hope that I won't have to step away EVERY time there's a play coming up. But it's crunch-time in the costume shop, and I need to devote this week to finishing up our costumes for Days Without End, and to my studies. I've tried a few times in the past several days to put up a post, and I just plain do not have the time to right now. In exactly one week's time, things will go back to normal, so please give me some patience. Check the sidebar for a wealth of other local and international style-sources.

Road Trip: Dayton

So, I've got to be out of town the next couple of days for my brother Alex's wedding. More photos from Revenge at Tru are in the editing process, and should be up this weekend. This has been a week of traveling -- first to the southwestern corner of Indiana, and now to Ohio. It might be hectic straight up until the end of December, since I'm moving to Vincennes.

But don't worry - I'm not taking a super-heavy courseload, and I will keep plenty of time penciled into my agenda to take lots of pics and keep up with this blog. I'm too into this thing to even think about letting up, no matter how freaky life may get. The only thing constant is change, after all.

I'll try to get some nice style shots while I'm in Dayton. Stay tuned!
