Quickie: Truly, the world needs more good hats.

  1. Amazing hat. Too bad I have a big head and can't wear most hats, especially vintage ones. I'm not sure if hats were made smaller back then, or if people's brains weren't as big!

  2. Thanks! Believe it or not, the hat is new. I got it yesterday at Burlington Coat Factory, with some of my Christmas money. I *do* think people's heads may have been smaller back in the day. I usually have good luck finding vintage-inspired hats at Burlington, or -- on the rare occasion I have splurge-money -- Macy's. But, if you want true quality, and local product... you've got to check out Emilliner.com. There's also a smaller-name hatmaker under the label Lila Noir in Indianapolis. She's hard to find, but I love her products.

  3. Agreed! And I LOVE that hat :) The shape is divine, and I love black netting anytime for that smokin' dark gothic look :)

  4. ...and audgal23 - you can order hats for larger heads..and any milliner can make a hat specifically for a certain head size too. I trained as a milliner for 2 years and it's one of the first things you learn :)

  5. *Thank* you, lovely! I'm honored to see that you've come around and complimented my purchase, especially since you're one of the folks who inspired me to try out this fashion-blogging thing in the first place. I don't have the funds to jet-set around like you, but I try to hold my own within the space I inhabit. And hey, if for any reason you find yourself in Indiana, you're welcome to call for my fave shopping spots.

I'd also like to add, audgal, that little feather fascinators and miniature hats go well on heads of all sizes. :)
